Role overview

Role overview

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer who works at the intersection of product, design, and engineering.

You care deeply about craft, but you also think like a product builder. You enjoy working closely with engineers to turn ideas into polished, real products.

You’ll help decide what we build, design the experience, prototype ideas, and stay closely involved through implementation to make sure the final product feels exactly right.

You’ll partner closely with our product and engineering leadership to design and ship features across iOS, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. From the earliest exploration through the final shipped detail, you’ll help shape both the direction of the product and the quality of its execution.

We work in small, focused teams where designers and engineers collaborate from the start. We believe thoughtful design and relentless attention to detail create products people genuinely love, and we’re looking for someone who feels the same way.

This role is ideal for you if…

  • You care deeply about craft and believe small details make a big difference.

  • You enjoy working at the intersection of design, product, and engineering.

  • You're passionate about travel and aviation; you want to design a product you actually use and love.

  • You like exploring ideas through prototypes and interaction experiments, not just static mockups.

  • You want to be involved from the earliest product idea through the final shipped detail.

  • You like working on a small team where your decisions have real impact.

  • You thrive when collaborating directly with engineers to solve hard problems together.

  • You're comfortable wearing multiple hats—designer, product thinker, researcher, prototyper.

  • You want to build something people use every day and genuinely love.

What you'll do

  • Work closely with product and engineering to define, design, prototype, and ship complete features.

  • Design experiences across iOS, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch, working within Flighty's established design vision.

  • Own the full design process for assigned features: research, interaction design, visual design, prototyping, and working with engineering through implementation.

  • Explore solutions collaboratively with engineers, considering technical constraints and opportunities early in the design process.

  • Explore product ideas through interactive prototypes and experiments.

  • Identify opportunities to improve core experiences and fix the smaller rough edges that add up.

  • Create prototypes and high-fidelity designs that clearly communicate interaction, motion, and edge cases.

  • Contribute to and help evolve Flighty's design system.

  • Shape product direction by surfacing opportunities and helping define what we build next.

  • Distill user research and feedback into clear, actionable design decisions.

  • Balance user needs, technical constraints, and business goals to ship features that delight.

  • Stay closely involved through implementation, working with engineers to refine interaction details and ensure the shipped experience meets the intended design quality. description. It's quite descriptive.

What success looks like

In the first 30 days:

  • You understand Flighty’s product, platform, design system, core user journeys, and quality bar.

  • You have developed a working understanding of the aviation and travel context behind the product.

  • You have shipped or meaningfully improved a small product detail, interaction, or surface.

  • You are already collaborating closely with engineers rather than working separately from them.

  • You are using prototypes to clarify interaction, motion, behavior, or technical feasibility.

  • You are contributing product thinking, not just visual execution.

In the first 90 days:

  • You own a meaningful feature, flow, or system improvement from exploration through build-ready design.

  • You are making complex states, edge cases, and real-time data easier to understand.

  • You have shipped, or are close to shipping, a polished product experience that feels unmistakably Flighty.

  • You have earned trust as someone who can take ambiguity and turn it into clear, high-quality product work.

  • You are improving the design system and product details around you.

  • You are helping the team move faster without lowering the bar.

What we're looking for

Must-have:

  • Genuine interest in aviation and travel. You understand why this product matters to travelers.

  • Exceptional product and interaction design skills.

  • Strong command of iOS design, with experience across iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.

  • A strong sense of craft and attention to detail.

  • Ability to design motion, transitions, and interactive product behaviors.

  • Strong product thinking and the ability to turn complex problems into clear, thoughtful solutions.

  • Ability to take ambiguous problems and feedback and turn them into focused, clear designs.

  • Strong product taste and a high bar for interaction and visual polish.

  • Comfort working closely with engineers on constraints, tradeoffs, and implementation details.

  • Willingness to challenge assumptions, explore alternatives, and advocate for the best outcome.

  • Curiosity, ownership, and a desire to ship great work.

  • Strong written and verbal communication.

  • Willingness to occasionally travel for team off-sites.

Nice to have:

  • Experience developing iOS apps.

  • Ability to build high-fidelity interactive prototypes.

  • Familiarity with Apple UI frameworks such as SwiftUI, UIKit, and Core Animation.

  • Experience designing data-dense or real-time applications.

  • Background in aviation, hospitality, or travel industries.

What we offer

  • Top quartile salary.

  • Generous performance-based bonus.

  • Unlimited growth opportunities.

  • Fully remote work. No commuting required.

  • Any hardware and software you need.

  • Generous and flexible paid time off.

  • Health insurance (US).

  • Annual worldwide team retreat.

  • Opportunity to directly shape an award-winning product that millions of travelers rely on.
